Havin’ Fun Creating A Design For The Site

I was worried when I saw Tumblr designs that designing for Tumblr was gonna’ be crappy… But I’m able to work in the design I had for the Wordpress-driven aintageek.com for this new Tumblr driven one. Hittin’ some brick walls here and there, but I’m adapting and pushing through.

One of the things I wanted to make sure was that the site loads correctly on both Google Chrome and iOS (iPad and iPhones). Typically, I’d be like “I also wanna’ make sure it’s designed right for Internet Explorer and Firefox!”, but skip that… ya know? We’re at a point where if a web site works under Chrome, if it don’t work under Firefox or Internet Explorer it’s a browser problem (Internet Explorer 6 anyone??) and not a design problem.

That seems to be the biggest issue today with web sites and stuff, either not working under Google Chrome, iOS (or Android, ect) or both. Web sites seem to either work well under Chrome or iOS but rarely both. For instance, a web site could have a simplistic, mobile version for smartphones that works great, but load it up on Chrome and it’s got some floating menu bar that glitches up simple actions such as copy and paste or scrolling. Or the web site will work perfectly fine on Chrome, but NO… load it up on an iPad, which is perfectly fine handling a web site, and a special “tablet” version loads up that you can’t select text and runs horrible.

So I’m tryin’ to make sure this design works well for both Chrome and iOS. JbB
